I'm armed, finally

It has been at the core of my wish list for yonks. But thank the crafty heavens at ASOS for bestowing upon me the nearest I will ever get to owning THAT Vivienne Westwood armour ring.

However not so many thanks, dearest ASOS, for injecting the ring into your '20% off new season brand' 12 ruddy hours after purchasing at full price - darn.

The medieval vibes this bad-ass ring channels coerce me into coveting a jousting session - or is that just me?

A Divine Tuesday

Last Tuesday I was fortunate enough to have a day devoid of being pent up in exam reading and article writing stress.

Instead I spent my day dressing up, down and around in front of a camera wearing some pretty swish clothing from the new range at Honey Divine Vintage.

It was recouping indeed marvelling at the assorted range of garbs- inspired from cowboy, to mermaid, to disco, to leopards. Admittedly, some articles looked risqué but once they were on,  the struggle to part with all the items was more than a little agonizing.

The unjustly sight for sore eyes ending the collection is my comrade, my amigo and my ancient best friend Gabriella and crikey that dress is smoking on her.

Some of these items are already available at their store: www.honeydivine.com

Friday fancies

It is uncanny. These splendours were surely separated at birth, surely?

I have lusted over this Chloe Sevigny for Opening Ceremony leopard jumper since it was released 11 long months ago and it remains bookmarked today.

Chloe Sevigny for Opening Cermony  leopard jumper
So when the gospel Topshop released this plain as the nose on your face emulation, my feet started to twitch.

I have been toying with making a purchase for an age; holding it up against me for an unhealthy length of time, putting it back on the rack, trying it on, putting it back on the rack, holding it up against me again, then putting it on the rack.

Camel knitted animal jacquard jumper, Topshop, £46

But to witness a carefree shopper waltzing up to said rack then hop scotching to the till is, naturally, a tad heart-wrenching.

So what is the abhorrently unprecedented force wedged between me and my coveted purchase? A mere stack of 4600 pennies of course.

Cheers Phillip Green for menacingly conjuring the desirable slightly less desirable and yes, take that Mr, I went there, I dropped the "Sir".

Sixties styling

The sixties was a time for bands in slick suits and radical political change as a wave of countries gained independence from their European rulers.

This subversive and stimulating era was reflected in the avant-garde aesthetics worn by those who set the style agenda.

Up until Sunday, at my friend's sixties themed 21st birthday, I forgot how much the decade excites me and my style and so I thought I would share my top swinging icons.

Jane Birkin:

She wowed me in the controversial sixties film Blow-Up and is the reason I purchased my first navy Breton top.

Since her singing and acting days she has even had a Hermés bag designed for her which has become one of the best-selling accessories in the fashion house.

Pattie Boyd:

Model, groupie and socialite. This former wife of Eric Clapton was a celebrated British model who graced the covers of UK and Italian Vogue.

Rifling through scores of her images, I feel compelled to wear nothing but dresses all day and every day.

Françoise Hardy:

The French singer, actor and-err... astrologer has impeccable Parisian taste that is iconic even in our neck of the woods.

Muse to Bob Dylan and Nicolas Ghesquière, head of the couture house at Balenciaga, it's no wonder I can waste hours googling her whilst listening to Ce Petit Coeur.

Brigitte Bardot:

The sex-kitten of the sixties, this French beauty's style remains an inspiration today.

She embodied the carefree liberating era whilst setting the trend for beehives and thick cat eye-liner detail

Donning some sixties swagger on Sunday with some pals.

New year, new lookbook

Hark now, Topshop have welcomed us into the new year by unveiling their stomach-crippling S/S11 collections that are set to pave the season in vogue.

In times of aimless newspaper assessment writing and exam preparing, these newfangled trends merit a healthy 5-minute stint at procrastination station.

Starting off with the newly released Snake Valley collection, which focuses on the resurgence of festival uniform.

Heavily featuring fringed kimonos, snakeskin hot pants, beaded moccasins and crochet waistcoats, this liberating range is inspired by bygone gypsy rockers who have a knack for layering.

Accessorised with turquoise jewellery, feather headpieces and dream catcher earrings, capturing this 70s essence on any level is easy as scuffing your new Christmas suede boots.

Folk details are a prominent theme for Topshop's new collections. Crafty cut-out details on suede jackets layered over floral prints conjure up a subtle country feel.

Playful polka dot prints with paisley jackets garner a fluid retro silhouette.

Bold pop shades mixed with clashing rainbow accessories create a 50s vibe.
It is time for the kick flare to shine this spring. Style with clashing tones and a metallic wedge for a zany folk rocker look.
